Our Newest PHF - Phil Easton

THE CLUB HONOURS ANOTHER STALWART

Phil – a country boy who rose high in the Big City

The Changeover Dinner brought a lot of pleasure to the Easton family, who had puzzled Phil by announcing they wanted to come to the dinner. They knew that Phil was to receive a Paul Harris Fellowship from President Rob, and Phil didn’t know.

This is some of what the citation said:

Philip Easton was born in Lismore, moved to Bathurst when he was five, and then in 1960 the family moved to Wellington where his father was the Headmaster of Wellington High. Philip's father was also a Rotarian, and became a Paul Harris Fellow when he was a member of the Castle Hill Rotary Club.

Philip started work in Wellington in a local Accountancy practice and studied by correspondence and moved to Sydney in 1969 to work with with Unilever.

In 1976 he moved on and worked for two property companies as Chief Accounting Officer, and moved to Australian Casualty and Life in 1986 where he became Chief Accountant and Company Secretary. AC&L He then moved to Deloitte's where he is still working as the Risk Services Manager

The Eastons gather to congratulate Phil – from left, Emily, Tom, Christine, Edwina..

Phil joined Rotary on September 11, 2002 and was immediately put to work. He became the Club's Insurance Officer in 2003 and has held the position to this date. Risk Management was added to his responsibilities in 2011.

He was chair of Community Service in 2008, and progressed to being Projects Director in 2009. Terry Hodge was very grateful for the help and support he received from Phil when, in his first Rotary year in 2009, he was thrown into the role of Community Service Chair.

Before The NOVUS Foundation was commenced by Wahroonga Rotary, our major fundraising event was the running of the District Golf Day, which was very challenging and time consuming. However Phil was in the thick of things from when he joined the Club. He chaired the organising committee and held meetings every month in his home, for which we are also very grateful to Chris.

Phil is always there at many functions or events where workers are required, whether it be cooking sausages, cleaning Australia or selling raffle tickets. He is a wonderful Rotarian.

Philip met his wife Chris 40 years ago this month, and they have 3 children, Emily, Edwina (McGill) and Tom and he is
a very proud Pa to Angus.
