The Collins Diary

There’s a loud ‘Aaaaah’, as the club relaxes
The last few days have been all about Novus. As a club we have invested considerable effort into preparing for, hosting and clearing up after the event. Over 70% of our members were involved in some way in the event and illnesses and overseas holidays accounted for a substantial part of the remainder.
The result was the now usual success with $125,000 being raised. This event allows us to showcase our Youth activities and also our strength in making things happen at the variety of levels that this event requires. Perhaps uniquely this year our members were also involved in purchasing two of the main auction items.
Something like Novus involves so many people in its success that it is impossible to try to single out individuals but this year we got particularly good assistance from a group of younger helpers including Leisa & Judi’s daughters as well as the usual helpers including Phil Comfort, Barbara Salisch and others who stayed behind to deconstruct 53 of the table decorations until 1.00 am.
I believe this is the 7th year that Novus has been run and on the basis of the success of this event it should be around for several more years.
Again I want to thank everyone from the club who donated their time, effort or gave gifts for the silent auction and who made this event not only successful but also enjoyable at every level.- John Collins
