Phil McCarroll

Local businessman, Phil McCarroll, was honoured with a State Government Community Service Award for his work supporting local charities through the Novus Foundation.

Ku-ring-gai MP, Premier and Rotarian, made the surprise announcement at the Rotary Club of Wahroonga's annual changeover dinner at the Warrawee Bowling Club.

The Foundation (http://novusfoundation.org.au) was established in 2006 to support projects assiting youth across the Hornsby and Ku-ring-gai Districts.

"It has raised over $650,000 and assisted local groups including the PCYC, StreetWork, Studio-Artes and Bear Cottage. Through the SAN Hospital's Outreach program it has also supported medical efforts in developing countries.

"During all this time, Phil McCarroll, has been the Foundation's driving force. Nothing's ever been too much trouble - whether chairing meetings or rounding up friends and colleagues to attend and sponsor the annual dinner.

"Yet Phil refuses to accept accolades and prefers to give credit to others.

"He's exactly the type of person the State Government is keen to recognise with a Community Service Award.

"People like Phil McCarroll put heart into communities like Ku-ring-gai and I was honoured to present him with the award."
