Today’s speaker was Patricio Parragué, who spoke to the meeting
bout the Australia/Chile connection crossing the Pacific in Catalinas.
The Catalina was an American flying boat of the 1930s and 1940s.
Patricio highlighted the story of Chilean Air Force Captain
Roberto Parragué, ( a relative) who was the first pilot to fly between
Easter Islands and Chileand the first to fly to Tahiti in a Catalina.
Australian pilot P. G. Taylor at the same time pioneered flight routes between South America and Australia.
The Ferguson Plate was also presented by John Baikie to his
co-winner George Richards. inducted in April 1990
It was also President Elect David's Birthday
