Last week we were privileged to have our District Governor Lindsay May OAM make his official visit to our Club. Lindsay was accompanied by his wife Tania, who has the official title of DG’s Media and Publicity Advisor. Tania is a Past President of Lane Cove Rotary.
I’m sure Lindsay will carry some fond memories of his visit following the most excellent Five Star Fellowship interview conducted by Past President Neil McWhannell. We were very much looking forward to having DG Lindsay visit in person, but the extended lockdown prevented this from happening.
Regardless, the interview and Lindsay’s presentation went ahead in a Zoom meeting. The meeting was well attended with 46 members and guests including AG Tom Borg, DG Aide Metro Jade Catterall, DGE Mina Howard and others.

DG Lindsay gave an overview of the D9685 activities and goals, and the expectations he has of Club. Our Club was of particular interest as it is one of the most active clubs in our District. At times DG Lindsay’s talk was more of a Q & A and it was good to see our Club member involvement with a range of interesting questions.
I’m encouraging our newer members to be more involved, and I thank Sabarish Chirakkal for giving the vote of thanks.
This past Saturday I attended the District President’s Meeting, a well-attended Zoom meeting that commenced at 8.30am. Topics covered in the meeting included finances, insurance, risk management, Foundation, Avenues of Service reports, Assistant Governors’ reports, etc.
This week will be special with The SAN Awards, an event we were not able to hold last year. Again, as last year, we are in lockdown but decided to go ahead with a virtual Awards event on Zoom. Past President Jim Verco has organised a very interesting program and is to be congratulated.
