Ku-ring-gai Tree Planting Project - July 2026

Wahroonga Rotary Club through the Community’s Environment group organised to help out at the National Tree planting day on Sunday 26th July 2026. This year marked the 30th anniversary of Australia’s largest community tree planting and nature care event organised by Planet Ark. 
 
Council supplies tools, trees, plants and grasses and a free BBQ at the end of the planting. Participants can also take home a free tree for their garden or balcony. 
 
Great initiative organised locally by Councils for a couple of hours. The Community Environment committee and Wahroonga Rotary Club members look forward to helping out with this project each year. Great impact for the environment and members only having to spend a small amount of time to make a big difference.

Adopt a Tree 

Wahroonga Rotary Club donates one tree in honour of each speaker at our meetings as part of our commitment to the Environment, Rotary’s 7th Avenue of focus. 
  • When you adopt a tree, your donation enables trees to be planted in areas throughout NSW & the ACT that require regeneration, including fire and flood ravaged zones
  • Trees provide habitat for local fauna
  • Trees help protect with erosion and flood control
  • Trees produce clean air, reducing pollution and provide carbon offset
  • Trees provide peace & tranquility and help our mental health
  • Tree plantings support local nurseries

  • Tree planting days bring people together

    Rotarians are welcome to join the final planting day for 2026. 
  • Each planting requires 20-40 volunteers per planting day.  350 trees will be planted on this 100 acre private property.
  • Saturday 31 October at Calrossie Farm, Mandemar
  • On each occasion a variety of trees and shrubs are planted to ensure  there is a balance in the local environment, encouraging native birds and all fauna to grow and thrive.
